Shocking accusations against a former Dortmund employee

German police have begun investigating complaints related to sexual assault allegations against a former Borussia Dortmund employee dating back several decades. Police in the city of Hagen, near Dortmund, stated that they had received two recent reports of the incident. They did not disclose the identity of the accused or details about the alleged victims, noting that the case is still in its early stages of investigation. Borussia Dortmund announced that it had commissioned an independent body to conduct a comprehensive review of the allegations after receiving information through a dedicated platform for receiving internal reports, stressing that it is treating the case with the utmost seriousness and transparency. The club had previously indicated in a statement that the first indications of inappropriate behavior by the employee date back to 2010, when it was informed of "inappropriate attempts" to approach a player in the 1990s. New allegations surfaced last year, prompting management to permanently terminate their employment with him. According to German media reports, the employee in question held a coaching position at the club, and the allegations revolve around possible assaults on underage players and fans at the time. This case has rocked the German sports community and sparked calls for a broader review of safety policies within clubs.
