Messi suffers a heavy defeat in the American League

Inter Miami, led by Argentine legend Lionel Messi, suffered a heavy 5-3 defeat against host Chicago Fire, in a match that took place at Chase Stadium early Wednesday morning, as part of the American Football League. Chicago Fire scored through: Dje Davila (11), Jonathan Dean (31), Kwame (43), Reynolds (80), and Gutierrez (83). Inter Miami's goals came through Thomas Aviles (39th minute) and Luis Suarez (57th and 74th). With this result, Inter Miami's tally remained at 56 points in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings, while Chicago Fire raised their tally to 51 points, moving up to eighth place. Messi's task of leading his team to the "Fans' Shield" title (awarded to the league's first-place team) has become more difficult, especially in light of Philadelphia Union leading the standings with 63 points. Inter Miami needs to win all its remaining matches, provided that Philadelphia loses one of its matches, to keep its hopes of winning the title alive.
