Valencia sue Netflix over Vinicius film!

Valencia CF has filed a formal lawsuit against Netflix over a documentary about Real Madrid player Vinicius Junior, which sparked widespread controversy due to its depiction of what the club considered to be fake racist scenes attributed by fans to the Spanish team. The film, titled "Baila Viní," featured clips of Vinicius suffering racist chants during a match between Real Madrid and Valencia, which the Spanish club considered a distortion of reality and the spread of misinformation. Valencia had asked the company to edit the film and remove the controversial references, particularly the translation that inserted the word "monkey" under the footage of the fans, but the request was rejected, prompting the club to resort to the judiciary. The club explained that the fans were chanting the word "tonto," which means "ridiculous" in Spanish, and not the chant attributed to the documentary. It asserted that the content shown harms the team's reputation and distorts the historical facts of its match against Real Madrid. This development comes after Netflix released the film ahead of Real Madrid's participation in the 2025 Club World Cup, amid ongoing debate over the accuracy of the footage and the media treatment of the Brazilian star in La Liga.
