Müller wins his first title with his new team

Former Bayern Munich star Thomas Müller returned to action in the best possible way, helping Vancouver Whitecaps win their first-ever Cascadia Cup title in Major League Soccer, following a 2-2 draw with Seattle Sounders. Muller, 36, missed the last three matches with a thigh injury, but returned straight to the starting lineup and made his mark, setting up Bryan White's opener early in the second half. The draw was enough for Vancouver to claim its eighth Cascadia Cup title, a regional tournament played between the Vancouver Whitecaps, Seattle Sounders, and Portland Timbers. After the match, a smiling Mueller said, amidst the celebrations of his teammates: "Winning this title in a competition like Cascadia is truly special." With this result, Vancouver raised its tally to 57 points from 31 matches, sharing the lead in the Western Conference with San Diego FC, and the team also secured home advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
