Barcelona's young Spanish star, Lamine Yamal, won the Kopa Trophy for the best young player in the world for 2025, during the Ballon d'Or ceremony presented by the French magazine "France Football", which was held on Monday evening at the Théâtre du Châtelet in the French capital, Paris. The rising star won the award after his impressive recent performances with both the Catalan club and his country's national team, outperforming a number of young talents from around the world who were on the list of nominees, including: Pau Koparsi - Barcelona, Dizier Doue - Paris Saint-Germain, Estevao - Palmeiras and Chelsea, Den Huissen - Bournemouth and Real Madrid, and Joao Neves - Paris Saint-Germain. The famous French magazine has awarded the Kopa Trophy to the best young player in the world under the age of 21 annually since 2018. It is presented during the same ceremony where the Ballon d'Or is also awarded. The award bears the name of the late French star Raymond Kopa, who won the Ballon d'Or in 1958.
