Yamal's father explodes after Dembele wins the Ballon d'Or

Mounir Nasraoui, the father of Barcelona's young star Lamine Yamal, made controversial statements during an interview with the Spanish program El Chiringuito, expressing his deep dissatisfaction with what he described as "incomprehensible treatment" his son received at the Ballon d'Or ceremony. These statements came after Lamine Yamal lost the Ballon d'Or to French winger Ousmane Dembélé, Paris Saint-Germain, during the ceremony held Monday evening at the Théâtre du Châtelet in the French capital, Paris. Nasraoui said: "What happened was very strange and caused great moral damage to my son. I don't want to describe it as theft, but the truth is that what happened is inexplicable." He added: "Lamine is the best in the world, by a clear margin over his closest competitors. I don't say this because he is my son, but because it is the reality that everyone sees on the field." Yamal's father emphasized that his son had an exceptional season with Barcelona, for which he deserved all praise and appreciation. He considered his loss of the award to be "one of the greatest moral losses that can be inflicted on a young player," clearly indicating his feeling of injustice with the voting results. Yamal, 18, had caught the eye last season with his amazing performances with Barcelona, which led to him being labeled by the club's fans and the sports media as the "awaited successor to Messi" and a strong candidate to win the most important individual award in world football.
