CAF opens an investigation into the death of 8 fans before the Comoros-Cameroon match 

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has opened an official investigation into the death of 8 people as a result of a stampede before the match between Cameroon and Comoros, which was held within the 2021 African Nations Cup, which is currently being hosted in Cameroon. 
An official statement issued by the Cameroonian government stated that 8 people were killed and 38 injured 7 are in serious condition, in a stampede before the start of the Cameroon match against Comoros, which was held on Monday evening. 
CAF issued an official statement on its website, saying: It had learned of the incident that took place at the Olympic Stadium during the African Cup of Nations match that was held between the host Cameroon and Comoros, yesterday, January 24, 2022. The statement continued: "Kav is currently investigating the situation and is trying to obtain more details about what happened, confirming his permanent contact with the Cameroon government and the local organizing committee." Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe also sent Veron Mosengo-Omba, CAF General Secretary, to visit fans at Yaounde Hospital. Victims were admitted to the city’s Messassi hospital in the incident’s immediate aftermath, with workers at the facility describing a traumatic scene. Associated Press quotes Olinga Prudence, a nurse, saying: “Some of the injured are in desperate condition. We will have to evacuate them to a specialised hospital.
