The Portuguese giants are monitoring Amorim's future

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is under increasing pressure following his team's heavy 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Manchester derby on Sunday night, in the fourth round of the English Premier League. According to the British newspaper "The Sun," Amorim may have a golden opportunity to leave Old Trafford, amid mounting criticism and fan discontent, especially after the team's poor start to the season, despite heavy spending in the summer transfer window. The newspaper added that Manchester United has collected only four points from its first four Premier League matches, its worst start since 1992, and was also eliminated from the Carabao Cup by a second-tier team, deepening the crisis and raising doubts about the Portuguese coach's future. Amid this situation, Juano Noronha Lopez, the favorite to become president of Portuguese club Benfica, is closely monitoring Amorim's situation. The newspaper reported that Lopes, who attended the Manchester derby with Nuno Gomes, a close friend of Amorim, expressed interest in bringing him back to Benfica if he wins the elections scheduled for October 25. Although Amorim previously coached Sporting Lisbon, Benfica's traditional rivals, his strong relationship with the capital club could pave the way for his return, especially if the poor results with Manchester United continue.
