Klopp is the winning card in Benfica's elections

Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has once again been in the running for the presidency of Portuguese club Benfica. Klopp left the coaching bench at the end of the 2023-24 season after a successful career with Liverpool, embarking on a new career as head of global football at Red Bull Group. In a surprising development, Benfica presidential candidate Cristóvão Carvalho announced his intention to hire a world-class coach and promised the club's fans that he would revolutionize the team if he wins. Speaking to Portuguese channel SIC Notícias, Carvalho said, "Bruno Lage will not stay with me for long. He will leave at the end of his contract this season, because we need a great coach who has won the Champions League and has the ability to lead Benfica to achieve this dream." He added: "The only name on my mind right now is Jurgen Klopp. He previously stated that Benfica is a great club and that he would love to coach it one day. Whoever says that certainly has special feelings for the club." Jurgen Klopp coached Liverpool in 489 matches, during which he achieved: 304 wins, 85 defeats and 100 draws. During his golden period with the Reds, he won eight major titles.
