First dismissal in the English Premier League

English club Nottingham Forest announced the departure of Portuguese manager Nuno Espirito Santo after three rounds of the English Premier League season. This decision comes after statements made by coach Nuno Espirito Santo during a press conference held last month, in which he indicated that his relationship with Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis had deteriorated, saying: "We are not as close as we used to be." Nuno added: "My relationship with the owner has always been excellent, especially last season when we were in almost daily contact, but this season things have not been going so well." According to British press reports, the dispute is not limited to the relationship between the coach and owner, but also extends to tensions with Edu, the club's new sporting director, who joined Nottingham Forest after leaving Arsenal last November. Nuno Espirito Santo took over at Nottingham Forest in December 2023, and in his first full season, he led the team to European qualification, finishing the 2024-25 season in seventh place in the Premier League, despite spending much of the season in the top three.
