How did the Egyptian national team receive Mohamed Salah?

Egypt's technical staff, led by Hossam Hassan, gave star player Mohamed Salah a guard of honor upon his arrival to the Pharaohs' camp in preparation for their matches against Ethiopia and Burkina Faso in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. This gesture of appreciation for the national team captain came days after he was crowned the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year for the 2024-25 Premier League season. Salah followed an exceptional season in which he shone as the top scorer and top assist maker, and contributed significantly to Liverpool's 20th league title win. The Egyptian Football Association posted photos of Salah being honored in the guard of honor on its official account, commenting: "The best is here, so it's time to celebrate." The association added in a brief statement: "A guard of honor from the Egyptian national team for captain Mohamed Salah after he was crowned the Premier League's Player of the Year for the 2024-25 season." Mohamed Salah continues his strong start to the new season with Liverpool, scoring the fourth goal against Bournemouth and then providing a crucial assist in stoppage time for teammate Rio Ngomoha to score the winning goal against Newcastle United in the 90+12th minute.
