Leverkusen gets rid of Ten Hag

German club Bayer Leverkusen surprised the football community on Monday by announcing the dismissal of 55-year-old Dutch coach Erik ten Hag after just two matches of the new Bundesliga season . The decision came after the team lost 2-1 to TSG Hoffenheim in the opening round and drew 3-3 with Werder Bremen despite leading 3-1, prompting the management to quickly intervene to end the coach's experience. This is one of the fastest dismissals ever for a new coach in German club history . Bild newspaper quoted its sources as saying that Ten Hag's continuation was not possible, noting that his repeated mistakes over the past two months had caused the club's management to lose confidence in him, despite his contract extending until 2027. The newspaper stated that his appointment was not the first choice to succeed Xabi Alonso, who recently moved to Real Madrid . Former assistant Roger Meyer will temporarily lead the team in training, in preparation for the upcoming matches.
