Flick issues strong warning to Barcelona players

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick issued a stern warning to his players following their 1-1 La Liga draw with Rayo Vallecano, stressing that selfishness has no place within the team and that collective commitment is the only way to succeed. Flick said after the match at Valladolid: "There is no place for selfishness in this team. Last season we played as a team, and we must show that this season as well. Everyone must be 100% committed to the team. No arrogance. Arrogance kills success." The German coach added realistically about his team's performance:
"I think a draw was enough for us. We didn't deserve more. We made a lot of mistakes, and we could have scored a second goal in the first half or at the beginning of the second, but what happened happened. It wasn't a good game for us." Barcelona took the lead through Lamine Yamal from the penalty spot in the 40th minute, before Fran Perez equalized for the hosts in the 67th minute from a corner, once again exposing the weaknesses of the Catalan defense. Reflecting on his assessment of the season so far, with Barcelona having collected seven points out of a possible nine, Flick said: "We always want to win, but we have to respect Rayo's work. They played well. When we play as a team, we can win, but in this match, I think we have to be happy with this point." Despite the controversy surrounding the futures of some players, such as Fermin Lopez, Flick refused to discuss individual details, preferring to focus on the team's collective spirit.
