Liverpool's talent makes Premier League history

Liverpool's teenage star Rio Ngomoha scored his first Premier League goal in stunning extra-time fashion to secure a 3-2 victory over Newcastle United in a thrilling match at St. James' Park on Monday night, just four days before his 17th birthday. Ngomoha's 100th-minute strike secured the three points for the Reds and made him Liverpool's youngest ever goalscorer in the Premier League at the age of 16 years and 361 days. He also became the fourth-youngest goalscorer in the competition's history, behind James Vaughan (16 years and 270 days), James Milner (16 years and 356 days), and Wayne Rooney (16 years and 360 days). Ngomoha is only the second 16-year-old to score a winner in a Premier League match, after former legend Wayne Rooney for Everton against Arsenal in October 2002. However, he was one day younger (16 years and 361 days, compared to Rooney's 16 years and 360 days at the time). This achievement confirms the promising star's status as some of the most exciting young talents in English football, and reflects Liverpool's ability to develop young players and involve them in decisive moments that make a difference on the pitch.
