Algerian club fans donate meals to Gaza residents

Fans of Algerian professional football club MC Alger donated 200,000 hot meals to the people of the besieged Gaza Strip, in a humanitarian initiative that reflects the deep ties between the Algerian and Palestinian people. The aid was delivered through the Palestine office of the Algerian Al-Baraka Association. A video circulating on social media showed volunteers from the association wearing T-shirts bearing the club's logo preparing the meals before distributing them to residents of northern Gaza. Several beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to MC Alger and its fans, while one of the organizers revealed in the video that this initiative will be followed by a second batch consisting of a convoy of more than 100 water tankers headed to Gaza. MC Alger supporters had previously announced the cancellation of the club's 104th anniversary celebrations, scheduled for August 7, in solidarity with the families of the four fans who died in the collapse of the upper stand at the "July 5" stadium during the celebrations of winning the league title for the second consecutive time. They directed the funds allocated for the event to support the people of Gaza in the face of famine and malnutrition.
