Stop killing children.. A message in the European Super Cup

UEFA sent a strong message about the war in Gaza ahead of the UEFA Super Cup match between Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur at the Friuli Stadium in Udinese, Italy. Players took to the pitch carrying a banner reading: "Stop killing children... Stop killing civilians," in a symbolic gesture of support for the children of Gaza and the need to protect civilians in conflict zones. This move came days after Egyptian star Mohamed Salah tweeted in response to a tweet from UEFA's official account mourning the death of former Palestine international Suleiman Al-Obeid. Salah commented: "Can you tell us how, where and why he died?" This support from UEFA, through its charitable foundation, aims to provide aid to affected children in Gaza, amid the rise in the number of Palestinian sports martyrs to 662 as a result of the recent war on the Strip. The 25,000-seat Friuli Stadium is hosting the current edition of the UEFA Super Cup, which brings together Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain and Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur, in a match that carries humanitarian symbolism before any sporting dimensions.
