Everything you need to know about Milan's record deal

Italian club AC Milan has officially announced the signing of Swiss midfielder Ardon Jashari from Belgian club Club Brugge on a long-term contract until 2030, in a deal worth approximately €39 million, including additional incentives. Jashari, 22, emerged last season as the most expensive player in the history of the Belgian Pro League, after his market value reached €32 million. He became a target for several major European clubs, including Manchester United, which was not an option for him due to what he described as the club's instability. Jashari joined Club Brugge last summer from Swiss club Lucerne for €6 million and quickly established himself as one of the league's best players, contributing to his team's progress to the round of 16 of the Champions League and finishing second in the domestic league. He also won the Player of the Season award, voted by his teammates across various clubs. Jashari boasts tactical flexibility, enabling him to play as a defensive or attacking midfielder. He has often been compared to his compatriot Granit Xhaka, due to his ability to distribute the ball accurately and win it back from opponents, in addition to his ability to score from deep positions, as demonstrated by his four goals last season. Despite interest from clubs across Europe's top five leagues, Jashari chose Milan, which he considered the right club for his ambitions, preferring the Italian or German leagues to the English Premier League. With his transfer, Club Brugge broke the club's and the Belgian league's record transfer fee, surpassing the €33 million deal for Igor Tiago last year. Jashari is expected to be a strong addition to Milan's midfield, capitalizing on his early maturity and calm on the pitch. He will begin a new adventure at one of Europe's most prestigious clubs, seeking to leave his mark in Serie A as he did in Belgium.
