Will Roma close the deal for Manchester City's star?

British press reports have revealed that Manchester City's young player, Claudio Echeverri, will not join Roma, led by coach Gian Piero Gasperini, on loan during the 2025-26 season, as the Argentine player has more suitable options in France and Spain. Earlier this week, Sky Sport Italia reported that the 18-year-old Echeverri, who made his Manchester City debut in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace last May, is one of the most prominent candidates to bolster Roma's attacking line this summer. In recent days, Echeverri's name, along with Portuguese Fabio Silva of Wolverhampton Wanderers, who is on loan, and Spanish Marc Jurado of Chelsea, have been linked with a move to the Italian capital to bolster the team's attacking capabilities next season. However, the British newspaper, the Daily Mail, confirmed in its report that Echeverri "does not expect" to move to Roma during the current summer transfer window. The newspaper explained that the Argentine player is likely to leave Manchester City on loan this summer, but the closest destinations for him are Spanish club Girona, which belongs to the City Football Group, which also owns Manchester City, or French club Olympique Lyonnais, which competes in the French Ligue 1, as these two clubs are the most likely options for the player's future career.
