Udine prepares to host the 2025 European Super Cup

The city of Udine and the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia are preparing to host the 2025 UEFA Super Cup final, scheduled for Wednesday, August 13, at the Stadio Friuli. The match will be between Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain and Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur. The event goes beyond sporting matters; the entire region is hosting a series of promotional and cultural initiatives and events led by the regional government, the Municipality of Udine, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), and UEFA. These include tours of major trophies in five major cities as part of the "Cup Experience," as well as fan festivals, public performances, and several museums opening their doors for free or at reduced prices for match ticket holders. The program was recently officially announced, and the organizing committee has recruited 300 volunteers from 27 different nationalities, nearly half of whom are women. Another 195 volunteers have come from within the region to enhance the local dimension of the event. They will be deployed to stadiums, fan zones, and official venues to provide logistical support and information to fans. Regional President Massimiliano Fedriga stated: "This is a momentous event, watched by 22 million viewers in its previous edition, and will make Friuli-Venezia Giulia the focus of attention worldwide. The choice of Udine to host the UEFA Super Cup between Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham is a recognition of the quality of our facilities, our central logistical location, and the organizational expertise we have accumulated over the years, particularly in the field of security. We are proud of this achievement, and the match will bring together two world-class clubs and the best players, making this a day etched in the history of the region." To reinforce the Italian identity of this edition, UEFA has designed a special logo that combines the tournament's symbol with the eagle, a symbol of the region's strength and authenticity. This design will appear on all visual materials related to the event. From July 29 to August 13, five major cities in the region will host the "Cup Experience," where the Champions League, Europa League, and Super Cup trophies will be on display to fans free of charge and without reservation. The climax of the event will be August 12 and 13, when Udine's city center hosts a massive UEFA Fan Fest in Liberty Square, featuring free entertainment, children's games, musical performances, and interactive exhibits, most notably a 4-meter-high replica of the trophy. Two official fan zones will also be set up in Piazza Primo Maggio for Tottenham fans and Moretti Park for Paris Saint-Germain fans, and will open on the morning of the match.
