Everton sells women's football team!

English club Everton has sold its women's football team to the club's parent company, a move expected to help the men's team comply with the Premier League's profitability and sustainability regulations. Roundhouse Capital Holdings, a company owned and controlled by American businessman Dan Friedkin, has purchased the Everton Women's team. The Friedkin Group took over Everton in December 2024, and the move is expected to benefit Everton by recording it as revenue in its financial accounts, improving the club's compliance with the profitability and sustainability regulations. The regulations stipulate that a club's losses cannot exceed £105 million over a three-year period. Everton was subject to two points deductions in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons for failing to comply with these regulations. Everton remains the third English club to sell its women's team due to profitability and sustainability regulations. Chelsea sold the women's team to parent company Bloko for approximately £200 million in June 2024, followed by the sale of a minority stake of between 8 and 10% in May to Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian. Aston Villa sold its women's team to V Sports in June. Everton finished eighth in the FA Women's Super League last season, reached the fifth round of the FA Cup, and were eliminated from the League Cup at the group stage.
