Will Jesus repeat Mourinho's successes with Cristiano?

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of the Saudi Al-Nassr team, is preparing to return to training under the supervision of a new Portuguese coach, after the club officially announced the signing of Jorge Jesus to take over the technical leadership for the next season. Jesus has previous experience in Saudi football, having coached Al-Hilal for two periods, the last of which was last season before leaving his position by administrative decision. This experience is a continuation of a series of stints during which Ronaldo has worked under Portuguese coaches, both with clubs and his national team. One of the most prominent of these experiences was with Luis Castro, the former coach of Al-Nassr, who led "Don" in 54 matches, scoring 53 goals, and winning the 2023 King Salman Cup for Arab Clubs. Despite Ronaldo's individual success under Castro, the latter left the team due to poor results. During his temporary absence, his assistant, Vitor Severino, took over the team for only two matches, during which Al-Nassr achieved two wins, while Ronaldo scored a single goal. The Portuguese coach who had the most influence on Ronaldo's club career was José Mourinho, who led him at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013. Under Mourinho, Cristiano participated in 164 matches, scoring 168 goals and providing 49 assists, and won three titles: the Copa del Rey (2011), La Liga (2012), and the Spanish Super Cup (2012). At the national team level, Ronaldo played under several Portuguese coaches, most notably Carlos Queiroz between 2008 and 2010, with whom he played 18 matches and scored two goals, and Paulo Bento between 2010 and 2014, with whom he participated in 38 matches and scored 27 goals, without winning any titles. His most successful international career came under coach Fernando Santos, who led the national team from 2014 to 2022. During that time, Cristiano played 82 matches, scoring 68 goals and providing 17 assists. He won the 2016 UEFA European Championship and the 2019 UEFA Nations League, making Santos the most successful coach he has worked with at the international level.
