Pique Debunks 'false' Claims On Barcelona Salary, Shares Bank Statement to Clarify
Gerard Pique responded to one of the journalist's claim that he was the highest-paid player in Barcelona, by revealing his annual salary. In a televised interview, Lluis Canut on TV3, claimed that the Spaniard Pique earns 28 million euros annually, surpassing many players such as Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Samuel Umtiti.
Catalan TV presenter Lluis Canut said Gerard Pique was Barca's top earner but the defender hit out at the claim on social media and responded with a screenshot of his online banking account; Barcelona said the presenter was "improper, unprofessional, and acting in bad faith".

Meanwhile, Barcelona also hit back at Canut by dismissing his claims as "erroneous" and saying the information "do not conform to reality". The club issued a statement on its official website, where it confirmed that the information shared by Canut was not true. The Spanish giants further added that all three players mentioned by Canut in his report have taken salary cuts while renewing their contracts last summer.
Xavi shocked Pique with this decision, and the "Blaugrana" suffers from financial difficulties, as Argentine star Lionel Messi was forced to leave for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, and reports of the Spanish club's debts estimated at one billion dollars.
