Mexico wins the Gold Cup

The Mexican national football team was crowned Gold Cup champions after a valuable 2-1 victory over the United States in the final match held at NRG Stadium in Houston, USA, early Monday morning. The hosts got off to a strong start, with Chris Richards opening the scoring for the US in the fourth minute. However, Mexico's response was short-lived, with Raúl Jiménez equalizing in the 27th minute, bringing the first half to a 1-1 draw. In the second half, El Tri continued to press for a second goal, which was scored by Edson Álvarez 13 minutes before the end of regulation time, giving his country a valuable advantage that his teammates maintained until the final whistle. With this victory, the Mexican national team ended the US's streak of dominating competitive matches, as Mexico's last victory over its traditional rival dates back to 2019. This time, they return with a new title that confirms their historic dominance of the tournament.
