Wirtz is one step away from joining Liverpool

Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz is set to undergo a medical in Liverpool on Friday, according to The Athletic. Liverpool have reportedly agreed a fee of €136.3 million for the young German star, with the offer comprising a base fee of €117.5 million and add-ons of €18.8 million. This would represent Liverpool's highest transfer fee in history, Leverkusen's record transfer fee, and one of the biggest ever in the British transfer market. Leverkusen had previously demanded €150 million for the 22-year-old, but Liverpool's offer was very close to that amount, prompting accelerated negotiations. It is noteworthy that Wirtz's contract with Bayer Leverkusen extends until June 2027, while German league champions Bayern Munich have also expressed interest in signing him. However, the player prefers a move to Liverpool, according to sources close to him.
