Auckland City goalkeeper... a crane driver in a pharmaceutical warehouse!

Auckland City goalkeeper Conor Tracy wasn't expecting to beat Bayern Munich, but he risked everything to play against the football giants. Tracy took unpaid leave from his job at a veterinary pharmaceutical warehouse, despite knowing the financial difficulties he would face paying rent and bills. At the 2025 Club World Cup in the United States, Auckland suffered a heavy 10-0 defeat to Bayern Munich. Tracy made some errors in passing and attempts to clear the net, allowing Bayern to score easy goals, but against shots, he showed a respectable level despite the significant gap in quality between the two teams. Auckland City rely on players who are not full-time professionals, as most of them work civil service jobs due to the lack of financial support for football in New Zealand, forcing them to take annual leave or unpaid leave to participate in international tournaments. Tracey, born in 1997, has previously represented New Zealand's under-23 national team and participated in the qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Speaking to Spanish newspaper Marca, he confirmed that he is combining his annual leave with unpaid days, saying: "I will face financial difficulties with rent and bills, but the opportunity to play against Bayern Munich, Benfica, and Boca Juniors is worth everything."
