Liverpool sign Wirtz in historic deal

Liverpool have reportedly reached a final agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sign international Florian Wirtz during the current summer transfer window, with a few minor details expected to be finalized in the next few hours. According to Sky Sports Germany, the deal was completed after intensive negotiations between the two parties, with a total value of approximately €150 million, including incentives and bonuses, making it the most expensive deal in Premier League history. With this move, Wirtz surpasses the €121 million transfer of Argentine Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea from Benfica in the winter of 2023. According to reports, the 22-year-old German player will sign a long-term contract with Liverpool and is scheduled to undergo a medical in the coming days, as he is currently on summer vacation. Bayern Munich were among the clubs most interested in signing Wirtz this summer, and were even close to concluding the deal. However, the player informed Leverkusen of his desire to join the Reds, especially after Manchester City withdrew from the race to sign him.
