Man City signs Milan star until 2030

English club Manchester City announced on Wednesday the signing of Dutch midfielder Tijani Reynders from Italian club AC Milan during the current summer transfer window. The English club's statement read: "Manchester City is delighted to announce the signing of Tijani Reynders on a five-year contract." The 26-year-old Dutch international joins the team from Italian club AC Milan, where he spent the past two seasons. An energetic and elegant player capable of playing in either an attacking or defensive role, Reynders was named Serie A's best midfielder for the 2024-25 season. This accolade came after he scored 15 goals in 54 appearances, more than doubling his best tally in a single season. Before moving to Milan, he made his professional debut for PEC Zwolle in his home country before becoming a regular at AZ Alkmaar. Since making his real impact for AZ in the 2020-21 season, Reynders has gained extensive experience at both club and international level. After making his senior Netherlands debut in 2023, he played in all six matches at Euro 2024 as his country reached the semi-finals. He is now eligible for selection for this summer's FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. Fluent in English, Reynders is excited about what he can achieve with Manchester City. "I am very happy to sign for Manchester City," said Reynders. "Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world, with the best coach, world-class players, and outstanding facilities. Under Pep Guardiola, Manchester City has won many trophies, and I want to continue that success and achieve even more in the coming years." He continued: "Playing in the Premier League is a dream come true. Many of the best Dutch players have excelled in this league over the years, and it inspires me to follow in their footsteps."
