New developments in Ronaldo's future

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has rejected a new contract renewal offer from Saudi club Al-Nassr, hinting that his career with the team is over. This comes at a time when his football future remains under the radar of clubs around the world. Ronaldo's current contract with Al-Nassr expires on June 30, and the club had previously offered a hefty extension worth up to £167 million per year. However, the 39-year-old wrote on his official accounts: "This chapter is over," clearly indicating his decision not to continue. Despite this, Al-Nassr expressed its commitment to the player, with the club's sporting director, Fernando Hierro, saying in a press conference: "We must be positive. I don't think Ronaldo will leave Al-Nassr. His contract with us runs until June 30, and we are working on renewing it because he represents a huge phenomenon in the history of football and has contributed greatly to the growth of the league." These developments come amid reports linking Ronaldo with a return to his former club, Sporting Lisbon, a move to the American League, a new experience in Turkey or Brazil, or even remaining in the Roshen League with another club. For his part, FIFA President Gianni Infantino hinted that Ronaldo might appear with one of the clubs participating in the new edition of the Club World Cup, saying: "There are talks with some clubs... Who knows? We might see him in the tournament." It is noteworthy that Ronaldo scored 93 goals in 105 matches with Al-Nassr, winning the Arab Club Cup in 2023, but he failed to win the Saudi League or King's Cup, which led some to interpret this as one of the reasons for his possible decision to leave.
