The collapse in the market value of Premier League stars

The Premier League transfer market has seen a significant increase in player values, with Swedish striker Alexander Isak topping the list of beneficiaries. Meanwhile, a number of other stars have declined, most notably Phil Foden and Erling Haaland. Just a year ago, Manchester City playmaker Phil Foden was enjoying his prime after being named the Premier League Player of the Season, with his market value reaching a career-high of €150 million. However, the 24-year-old Englishman has had a disastrous season, failing to score or assist a single goal for his country at Euro 2024 and managing just nine goals in the Premier League. He has also spent most of the recent months on the bench at Manchester City. As a result, Foden's value has dropped by €30 million, leaving him at €100 million. However, he remains among the top ten most expensive players in the Premier League and is expected to regain his form soon, given his immense talent. Another City star, Erling Haaland, has also been affected by the new update. After topping the world rankings as the most valuable player (€200 million), his value has decreased by €20 million to €180 million. Despite scoring 22 league goals, the Norwegian star has not won any titles this season, which was considered a modest performance by his high standards. Spanish midfielder Rodri, who won the Ballon d'Or, also saw his value drop by €20 million to €110 million, especially after suffering a cruciate ligament injury that has kept him out since the start of the season. Despite this, he remains the most expensive midfielder over the age of 28. Among the most notable players whose market value has also decreased is Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, whose value has dropped by €15 million to €85 million after a lackluster season in which he scored only three goals and provided eight assists. Negative updates also included Cole Palmer (down €10m), Dejan Kulusevski (down €10m), and Heung-min Son (down €10m).
