Salah admits: I was close to joining the Saudi League!

Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool striker, confirmed that the negotiations he had with Saudi Professional League officials were "serious," indicating that they would have led to his departure from Anfield had he not renewed his contract with the Reds. Salah said in television statements: "It was a good opportunity for me, and if I hadn't renewed my contract with Liverpool, it would have happened. The negotiations were serious, and my relationship with the league officials is excellent, and we talk a lot." Reports had revealed strong interest from Saudi clubs in signing Salah last summer, in a deal that would have been one of the largest in the history of Arab football, before the Egyptian star decided to extend his contract until the summer of 2027. Salah addressed the backstage of his decision to stay, saying: "The negotiations were long, and I know how the club manages these matters. In the end, we reached an agreement that made everyone happy, and the fans played a big role in that. I knew from the beginning that they wanted me to stay, and they contributed to the pressure to make that happen." He also spoke about the difference between former manager Jurgen Klopp and his successor, Arne Slot, saying: "Every coach has their own style, but I speak a lot with Slot and we get along very well. Unlike Klopp, we sit together and talk a lot."
