Ancelotti arrives in Brazil to lead the Seleção

Italian Carlo Ancelotti, the new coach of the Brazilian national team, arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Monday morning, to officially assume his duties as head coach of the Selecao. Ancelotti ended his time with Real Madrid after the final round of the Spanish League match against Real Sociedad, which the royal club won 2-0, thus closing a distinguished chapter in his coaching career with the Spanish team. The Brazilian Football Confederation had announced the appointment of Ancelotti as coach of the national team until the end of the 2026 World Cup, making him the first non-Brazilian coach to lead the Seleção in decades. The moment the Italian coach arrived at his residence in Rio de Janeiro, he was greeted with a warm welcome from hundreds of national team fans, who welcomed the man on whom they have high hopes of returning Brazil to global glory. Ancelotti is expected to begin his duties immediately, and is expected to announce his first squad with the Seleção in the coming days, in preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay, scheduled for June 5 and 10, respectively.
