Flick comments on Alonso's appointment as Real Madrid coach

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick confirmed that his team performed brilliantly against Athletic Bilbao in the final match of the Spanish Football League season, which Barça won 3-0. Speaking at the press conference after the match, Flick said: "It was great to see that we played at that level. I think it was an excellent match against one of the best teams in the league and against a great atmosphere. I really liked what I saw, for 90 minutes or more, so it was great." He added: "For me, this is the most important thing, especially when we have already finished the season, and also after so many celebrations and happy moments.. Ending the season like this is perfect." The German coach commented on the appointment of Xabi Alonso as coach of traditional rivals Real Madrid, explaining: "I know his career, yes, definitely. I spoke with him when he was at Bayer Leverkusen. We spoke several times, and I admire him a lot. I know his football philosophy, and it is certainly very positive to see his success in Germany with a team that played at a very high level, Bayer Leverkusen." Flick continued: "I also think the players have developed a lot, and I think that is due to the way he led the team - so I am very happy to see him now in this position."
