Mohamed Salah is chasing a Premier League record

As the 2024-25 season draws to a close, Egyptian star Mohamed Salah continues to make history in the English Premier League, enjoying one of the best individual seasons in the competition's history. The Egyptian international has now contributed 46 goals in 35 matches (28 goals and 18 assists), breaking the record for most goals in a 38-game season, previously held by Thierry Henry (2002-2003) and Erling Haaland (2022-2023), with 44. Salah is just two goals (either scored or assisted) away from breaking the all-time record for most goals in a single Premier League season, currently shared by Andrew Cole (1993-1994) and Alan Shearer (1994-1995), with 47 each, in a season that then consisted of 42 matches. Although the Liverpool star was easily on track to reach the milestone, having made 44 assists in his first 29 games, his attacking performance has declined in recent rounds, with only one goal and one assist in his last six matches, raising questions about his ability to complete the task before the end of the season.
