Real Madrid's position on signing Arsenal star

Real Madrid, headed by Florentino Perez, is keen to sign French defender William Saliba from Arsenal during the upcoming summer transfer window. Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano said that Real Madrid considers William Saliba an exceptional talent and therefore places him among its top targets for the coming period. The journalist, who specializes in player transfer news, added that if the opportunity arises to sign the French international, whether next summer or in 2026 or 2027, the Spanish club will strongly pursue him. He indicated that Real Madrid's position on signing the player depends on the progress of Saliba's contract renewal negotiations with the London club. The royal team has tended to sign players on free transfers in recent years, as it did with Kylian Mbappé and David Alaba, and intends to follow suit with Trent Alexander-Arnold. Therefore, it is not unlikely that the club will wait until William Saliba's contract expires before signing him on a free transfer in the summer of 2027, focusing this summer on finding less expensive alternatives.
