Al Ahli’s Impact on the Saudi Pro League 2025 Season

Al-Ahli Saudi Arabia won the AFC Champions League for the first time in its history, defeating Japan's Kawasaki Frontale 2-0 in the final held on Saturday at Al-Inma Stadium in King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah. With this victory, Al-Ahli achieved four important gains, securing $12 million for winning the continental title and qualifying for three future continental and international tournaments. The first of these tournaments will be in 2026, when the team will participate in the Confederations Cup and the second edition of the AFC Champions League. The third tournament will be the Club World Cup, which will be held in 2029 and will feature 32 international teams. This crowning comes after an impressive run for the Jeddah club in the tournament, having played eight matches without suffering a single defeat. Al-Ahli began their journey in the AFC Champions League by finishing second in the West Group with 22 points from seven wins and one draw. In the Round of 16, Al Ahly secured a resounding 3-1 victory over Qatar's Al Rayyan in the first leg and a 2-0 victory in the second leg. They then continued their impressive form in the quarterfinals with a deserved 3-0 win over Thailand's Buriram United. In the semifinals, the team secured a thrilling 3-1 victory over Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal, securing their place in the final and winning the continental title.
