Barcelona to announce Flick's contract renewal

Press reports revealed that Barcelona is close to officially announcing the extension of the contract of its German coach, Hansi Flick, who took over the team's coaching position from Xavi Hernandez in the summer of 2024. This move comes after the team's positive performance under Flick's leadership, prompting the club's management, led by president Joan Laporta, to move quickly to secure his continuation at the helm. According to Sky Sports, the two parties have reached an initial agreement to extend the contract until the summer of 2027, adding only one year to the current contract, which expires in 2026. Flick prefers short-term contracts, preferring to renew season after season rather than commit to long-term contracts, a position understood by the Catalan club's management during the negotiations. Barcelona is expected to officially announce the renewal next May, following the conclusion of the 2024-2025 Spanish League season.
