Guardiola: We had a bad season despite the victories

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expressed his delight with his team's late 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in the 34th round of the English Premier League, stressing that his team has witnessed a significant improvement in performance since returning from the last international break in March. Guardiola told Sky Sports: "I am very happy with the goal we scored at the end of the game. Football is a game full of emotion, and the players gave an incredible performance. I am very proud of what they did." The Spanish coach added: "We are not a team that scores often in the last minutes, so to win in this way is special. What we have done in the last four games confirms that we are on the right path." He pointed out that the real change in the team's performance began with the match against Bournemouth in the FA Cup, which City won, before later defeating Leicester City, drawing with Manchester United, and then victories over Crystal Palace, Everton, and finally Aston Villa. Regarding the performance against Villa, he explained: "We played a great game. We were strong in individual confrontations, and the defense was amazing in every detail. Even if the match ended in a 1-1 draw, it wasn't bad, but the players' desire to fight until the last minute made the difference." Despite the noticeable improvement in the team's results, Guardiola frankly admitted: "We have to be honest, we had a bad season. Even if we qualify for the FA Cup or Champions League final, we cannot ignore some disappointing performances this season."
