Dortmund star makes history in the Champions League

Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy achieved a historic achievement with his brilliant performance in Borussia Dortmund's match against Barcelona in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals. He led his team to a 3-1 victory at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday evening, scoring all of his team's goals. Despite this resounding victory, Barcelona secured a place in the semi-finals thanks to a 4-0 victory in the first leg, which took place last week in Spain. Guirassy, who scored a hat-trick against Barcelona, topped the Champions League scorers list for the current 2024-25 season with 13 goals in 14 matches, ahead of Barcelona's Brazilian striker Rafinha, who scored 12 goals, and his teammate Robert Lewandowski, who scored 11 goals. According to the British newspaper, "Daily Mail," Guirassy holds the record for the most goals scored by an African player in a single Champions League season, with 13 goals, surpassing the Egyptian duo Mohamed Salah and Senegalese Sadio Mane, who scored 10 goals between them for Liverpool in the 2017-2018 season. Guirassy also became the first player in Borussia Dortmund's history to score 13 goals in a single Champions League season, breaking the previous record held by Norwegian Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski, who each scored 10 goals.
