Crazy spending on player agents in the Premier League

Chelsea have continued their dominance of the Premier League's top spenders on agents for the second year in a row, according to a new report covering the period from February 2, 2024, to February 2, 2025, which includes the last two transfer windows. According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea spent nearly £60 million on agents' fees during this period, down from £75.1 million in the previous season (2023-2024), highlighting the London club's continued costly contracting policy. Official figures released by the Football Association revealed that the total spent by the 20 Premier League clubs amounted to £409.1 million, a slight decrease compared to last season, when spending decreased by just £0.4 million. Manchester City came in second place behind Chelsea, spending £52 million, ahead of rivals Manchester United, who spent £33 million, a significant margin of £19 million. The other top spenders included Aston Villa with £25 million and Newcastle United with £24.3 million, while Arsenal came in sixth with £22.8 million, ahead of Liverpool, who spent around £21 million. The bottom three spots in the top ten were occupied by West Ham with £19 million, Tottenham with £18.4 million, and Brighton with £16.5 million. Ipswich Town, on the other hand, were the lowest spenders, spending just £6.3 million on agents, amid a difficult season that could see them return to the Championship.
