A disastrous season for Manchester in the Premier League

Manchester United, led by Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim, recorded several negative records after suffering a heavy defeat against host Newcastle United, 4-1, in the 32nd round of the English Premier League at St. James' Park. According to statistics published by the global network "Opta", Newcastle achieved their first victory over the Red Devils in both league matches since the 1930-1931 season, and also scored four goals in a Premier League match against Manchester for the first time since September 2001 (4-3). Manchester United's 14th defeat in the English Premier League this season is their highest tally in a single season in the competition, as they also lost 14 matches last season. The Red Devils have only suffered more defeats in a single Premier League season in the 1989-1990 season (16 defeats in 38 matches). Since Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim's first game in charge of Manchester United, only Southampton (59), Tottenham (53) and Leicester (53) have conceded more goals in all competitions than Manchester United (48) among Premier League clubs.
