Maradona's wife reveals doctors lied about his death

Veronica Ojeda, the ex-wife of Argentine football legend Diego Maradona and the mother of his youngest son, revealed during the trial of the medical team accused of causing Maradona's death that doctors Leopoldo Luque and Agustina Cosachov lied to her about Maradona's recent surgery and the conditions of his healthcare at his home. Maradona died on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60, suffering from serious liver, heart, and lung conditions, according to the forensic report submitted by the prosecutor's office. Ojeda explained in her court appearance that Luque told her he had performed the surgery on Maradona, but it later emerged that another doctor had performed the procedure. "They blatantly deceived us, it was crazy," she added. Ojeda also stated that Luque and Cosachov told her that "the best option was to care for Maradona at home, where doctors would be available and the situation would be similar to being in a hospital, with an ambulance always on hand." However, she emphasized that these conditions did not materialize. Ojeda added that she visited Maradona two days before his death, and that he was in "very poor" health. She continued, "Maradona had to be moved elsewhere because he wasn't well. There were no doctors present, just a sitter. Someone had to take action. I wanted to do something about it."
