Messi breaks Higuain's record

Argentine legend Lionel Messi continued his remarkable brilliance in the American League, breaking the record of his compatriot Gonzalo Higuain, becoming the player with the most goal contributions in Inter Miami's history in the MLS. Messi scored his team's only goal in the match between Inter Miami and Toronto, which ended in a 1-1 draw in the sixth round of the American League. The goal came with a distinguished ground shot from the edge of the penalty area in the fifth minute of stoppage time in the first half. Despite having a previous goal disallowed due to a foul on a Toronto defender, "La Pulga" returned to confirm his brilliance, scoring his 40th goal for Inter Miami and 24th in MLS, surpassing Higuain's record for the number of goal contributions with the team. According to the MLS website, Messi has now contributed the most goals in the club's history in the league, with 44 (24 goals and 20 assists), one more than Higuain, who needed 67 games to reach this mark, compared to just 29 for the Argentine star. With this goal, Messi is just five goals away from equaling Higuain's record as Inter Miami's all-time top scorer in the league.
