Valencia goalkeeper wins his bet with Vinicius

Valencia snatched a thrilling victory over hosts Real Madrid, winning 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday in the 30th round of the Spanish League. This was the Bats' first victory at the royal club's stadium since 2008. The match witnessed Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior's penalty miss, saved by Valencia's Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who is joining Liverpool at the beginning of next season. His save helped keep his team's hopes alive in the match. Speaking to reporters after the match, Mamardashvili revealed that his penalty save had earned him a €50 bet. However, reporters inquired about the meaning of his winning bet and asked him to explain. Mamardashvili added: "I asked Vinicius if he wanted to bet €50, and he said yes, and I won. He was supposed to pay the amount after the match." But when asked if Vinicius had paid the sum, Mamardashvili replied: "No, no, no." Mamardashvili, who saved eight shots in the match, insisted the penalty decision was fair. Real Madrid's shock defeat to Valencia gave La Liga leaders Barcelona the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table to six points. However, Hansi Flick's side failed to capitalize on this opportunity, drawing 1-1 at home to Real Betis, leaving them four points behind with eight rounds remaining.
