Inter Miami reveals the nature of Messi's injury

Inter Miami CF has announced the nature of the injury suffered by Argentine star Lionel Messi, which will keep him out of the national team's matches against Uruguay and Brazil. The 37-year-old returned to Inter Miami's starting lineup for their MLS win over Atlanta United, but reports indicate he suffered an injury during Sunday's match. Messi was rested for three matches with Inter Miami before coming off the bench and scoring in his team's win over Jamaica's Cavalier in the CONCACAF Champions Cup last week. Inter Miami said in an official statement: "Messi underwent an MRI to assess the discomfort he felt in his adductor muscle during the Atlanta United match." He added, "The examination results showed a minor injury to the adductor muscle, and his readiness for matches will be determined based on his progress in rehabilitation and his response to the treatment program." The Argentine national team announced Messi's exclusion from the Tango squad for matches against Uruguay and Brazil in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
