Haaland breaks Shearer's Premier League record

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has achieved a new historic Premier League achievement, scoring in his team's 2-2 draw with Brighton in the 29th round of the 2024-25 season. Haaland scored the opening goal for Manchester City in the 11th minute from a penalty kick, reaching his 100th goal contribution in the English Premier League since joining the team in the summer of 2022 from Borussia Dortmund. According to the British newspaper "Daily Mail", Haaland scored his 84th goal in the English Premier League, in addition to 16 assists, reaching 100 goal contributions in just 94 matches. Haaland thus became the fastest player in Premier League history to reach this milestone, surpassing the previous achievement of English star Alan Shearer, who reached 100 goal contributions in 100 games in 1994. The newspaper added that Egyptian Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool star, along with French Eric Cantona, the former Manchester United star, needed 116 matches to reach 100 goal contributions in the English Premier League, while Argentine Sergio Aguero came in fourth place after reaching the same number in 118 matches.
