Kane overtakes Rooney to threaten Beckham's European record

English: England's Harry Kane, Bayern Munich's striker, scored twice to lead the Bavarian team to an easy 3-0 win over their Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen, in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday. Kane achieved a remarkable scoring record after being directly involved in 48 goals in the Champions League (38 goals, 10 assists), according to the global statistics network "Opta". The Bayern star is currently second in the list of English players who have contributed the most goals in the prestigious European competition. Kane surpassed former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who contributed 47 goals, to take third place. The former Tottenham Hotspur striker comes in second place behind former English star David Beckham, who has scored and assisted 52 goals in the Champions League. Kane seeks to continue breaking records, as he is only a few steps away from becoming the highest scoring English player in the history of the European competition. Bayern Munich are looking forward to the second leg against Leverkusen at the BayArena, where they are seeking to secure their place in the quarter-finals and move forward towards their dream of winning the title.
