Arsenal fined by FA

Arsenal have been fined £65,000 ($82,000) by the Football Association for failing to control their players after defender Miles Lewis-Scully was sent off during the Premier League win over Wolves in January. The club was charged by the FA for the behaviour of its players after Lewis-Scully was sent off in the 43rd minute for a foul on Wolves' Matt Doherty. Nine Arsenal players approached referee Michael Oliver after the young defender was shown a straight red card. The FA said in a statement that an independent disciplinary commission had decided to fine the club after allegations that Arsenal had failed to ensure its players behaved in a decent manner. The club admitted the charges. While the video assistant referee (VAR) upheld the dismissal immediately after the incident, Arsenal appealed the red card and the 18-year-old's three-match ban was overturned. The FA, however, said the actions of some Arsenal players were unjustified, adding that the reaction did not mitigate the punishment despite the red card being overturned on appeal. Arsenal went on to win the match 1-0.
