Van Dijk reveals the reason behind the fight with Everton players

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has admitted that the team is disappointed after their 2-2 draw with Everton in the derby at Goodison Park, in a postponed match from the 15th round of the English Premier League. Van Dijk said in statements published by the Liverpool Echo network: "It is difficult to accept what happened. To concede a late goal like that is very disappointing. We take the point and move on." He added: "We came back from behind and went 2-1 up but we could not finish it and we had to fight and continue doing so but it was not enough to finish the result. We know the difficulty of the upcoming matches. We need everyone to be at their best." The Dutch defender continued: "Everyone should feel disappointed but we will focus on recovering. The most important thing for us and our fans is to focus on ourselves and not look at what others do or write. Every match is difficult and we will see at the end of the season but we have to stay in a good position and keep fighting." Van Dijk spoke about the altercation with Everton players after the match: "There was a provocation from a certain player, Doucoure, and we saw what he did and showed our reaction as a team, but the referee should deal with these things, not me, but the referee was not completely in control."
