What does Real Madrid need to qualify for the Champions League last 16?

Real Madrid are looking to pull off a miracle to secure a direct qualification to the Champions League round of 16 when they visit French side Brest on Wednesday in the eighth and final round of the league. Real Madrid,
who are in 16th place in the standings, need to qualify among the top eight teams in the Champions League round of 16. First and foremost, Carlo Ancelotti's side must beat Brest to have any chance of qualifying for the round of 16. The Royal Club knows that anything other than a win will keep them out of the direct qualification places.
Secondly, if Real Madrid wins, they need to hope that the other seven teams ahead of them fail to win. This means they will hope that none of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Lille, Feyenoord, Monaco, Aston Villa or Bayer Leverkusen can collect three points in their last matches.
Real Madrid had won the last two matches of the Champions League, beating Atalanta 3-2, before crushing Red Bull Salzburg 5-1, and are looking to secure their third consecutive win against Brest.
