Akram Afif's goal nominated for the best Asian award
The Asian Football Confederation nominated Akram Afif, the star of Qatari club Al Sadd, which he scored against Saudi club Al Nassr, for the award for the best goal in the sixth round of the AFC Champions League elite competition. Afif's distinguished goal came during his team's match against Al Nassr, which was held last December at Al-Oula Park Stadium in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The match ended with Al Sadd winning 2-1, in the sixth round of the group stage "West Group" of the AFC Champions League for the 2024-2025 season. Akram Afif showed exceptional individual skills, as he received the ball skillfully from almost the middle of the field, and started dribbling past Al Nassr defenders before shooting a wonderful ball that settled in the net, putting his team in the lead and adding a decisive touch to the match. This victory was enough for Al Sadd to officially qualify for the round of 16, after raising its score to 12 points in fourth place in the group standings. It is noteworthy that the Asian Confederation will announce the winner of the award for the best goal in the round based on fans' votes through its official platforms.
